Every instrument brings its own musical qualities.
A combination of notes can create consonance or tension. Repetition can establish familiarity. A change in texture can introduce contrast. Silence can become an intentional part of the composition.
The real skill is understanding how these elements relate, and knowing what to do with them.
A complete sound journey has an arc.
It has a beginning, development, moments of contrast, a peak and a resolution. Individual instruments can have their own smaller musical arcs, while contributing to the larger journey.
Once you understand the principles behind this, you no longer need a fixed sequence to tell you what comes next.
And you can make musical decisions while playing, because you understand what you're working with.
You already have the instruments.
You already have the experience of playing them.
Now it's time to understand the musical language behind them, and use that knowledge to create sound journeys with your own signature.
You already know how to play your instruments.
Now learn how to bring them together, shape a musical journey and make conscious choices about what happens from the first tone to the final moment.
Mastering the Sound Journey brings together the musical understanding behind your instruments and the practical art of sound journey design.
Through our Embodied Sounds Method, you won't just learn music theory. You'll experience it through your own instruments, hear and feel the relationships between sounds, and learn how to use that understanding when you compose and play.
So you can create complete sound journeys that are genuinely your own, without relying on someone else's sequence or repeating the same session every time.
Perhaps you already have a collection of beautiful instruments.
You know how to play your singing bowls, gong, handpan or tongue drum. You have facilitated sessions, followed trainings and collected ideas along the way.
And yet, when you sit down to design a complete sound journey, some questions remain.
You might have developed a structure that works reasonably well. But perhaps you keep returning to the same sequence because you're not entirely sure what else to do.
Or you rely on intuition and hope the different elements will come together.
Intuition matters. But when you don't understand the musical relationships behind your choices, you're often guessing.
You don't lose your intuition
by learning music theory.
You give your intuition
a musical language.
At the heart of this training is our Embodied Sounds Method.
Most music theory is taught intellectually: through notation, diagrams and abstract explanations.
We approach it differently.
You explore musical relationships through the instruments you already own. You hear the intervals, feel the differences between combinations and discover how musical concepts translate into actual playing.
This connects three essential layers:
Learn the musical principles behind notes, intervals, scales, harmonies, tonal centres and instrument combinations.
Explore those principles through your own instruments. Train your ear and develop a practical understanding of how sounds relate.
Use that understanding to shape complete sound journeys, make conscious musical choices and adapt your playing when the journey calls for something different.
The aim isn't to turn you into a classical musician.
It's to give you the musical understanding you need to become a more independent sound journey creator.
This isn't a self-study course where you are left to figure everything out on your own.
You'll move through the musical foundations first, then put that knowledge to work in your own sound journey designs.
All sessions take place online at 7:00 p.m. Amsterdam time.
You'll have time to explore the material, experiment with your own instruments and develop your own sound journey throughout the training.
And you won't have to figure out every musical question on your own.
Understand the musical building blocks behind your instruments.
Explore notes, scales, intervals, harmonies, tonal centres, tuning and the sonic qualities that influence how instruments work together.
Move beyond understanding music intellectually.
Use your own instruments to hear and experience intervals, musical relationships and combinations. Learn to recognise what happens when sounds meet, and why certain combinations work differently from others.
Explore how the brain processes sound and how musical qualities such as repetition, tempo, silence and tension may influence the listening experience.
Understand why people can respond differently to the same sound, and how this knowledge can inform your musical choices.
Turn individual sounds into a complete musical journey.
Work with structure, dynamics, transitions, repetition, contrast, tension and release. Learn how to build an arc that takes a listener from the opening tone through development and resolution.
Bring everything together in your own sound journey.
Develop your personal musical language, design a complete session with your own instruments and learn to make conscious choices while playing, without depending on a predefined sequence.
You finish with a complete sound journey of your own, and the understanding to create the next one.

By the end of the training, you'll have the musical understanding and practical framework to:
You don't need a bigger instrument collection.
You need to understand what you can already do with the instruments you have.
Eddie & Joy
Sound Healing School
Eddie brings over 20 years of professional musicianship and conservatory-level musical education. His background includes extensive experience with musical structure, composition and the relationship between music and the brain.
Joy brings over 20 years of experience as a singer, dancer and performing artist, with a background in embodied and somatic work. She has also been an embodiment and yoga teacher for over 10 years.
Together, we've spent eight years working in sound healing, facilitating sessions and teaching practitioners.
Over that time, we've seen how much changes when sound healers understand not only how to play their instruments, but also the musical principles behind the sounds they create.
That's why we developed the Embodied Sounds Method: to connect musical understanding with direct experience through the instruments themselves.
We believe sound healing deserves more than guesswork. It deserves musical understanding, practical experience and the freedom to create something of your own.
“The session design framework made creating a session clear, easy and even fun. Everyone I gave sessions to during and after my exam said they loved the build-up and the flow. It isn't until now that I feel my whole trajectory really comes together.”Dairile
“Not just by feeling, but by knowing what works and what to avoid.”L.
“I used to play harmonic, maybe even boring, soundbaths before. Now I feel a change in my own sessions which truly moves me.”Student M.

Join Mastering the Sound JourneyNo. The aim isn't to replace your personal style. It's to give you more musical options and a deeper understanding of the choices you're already making. You keep your own approach, while gaining the ability to develop it further.
Your intuition is an important part of your work. Musical understanding gives you a foundation to build on. It helps you recognise why certain combinations work, understand what you're hearing and make more informed choices. It supports intuition rather than replacing it.
No. Understanding structure doesn't mean following a rigid recipe. It gives you more freedom to experiment, improvise and make your own decisions. The structure is there to support your creativity, not restrict it.
No. The training is designed to help you understand and use the instruments you already own. You'll explore how different instruments and combinations can contribute to a sound journey.
No conservatory background is required. However, this training is intended for practitioners who already know how to play their instruments and have a basic foundation in sound healing. It isn't an introduction to playing instruments from scratch.
It really helps to go through Musical Intelligence before we move on to the design part. But you don't have to do it alone: we'll support you with it in the live sessions. And you'll have lifetime access to Musical Intelligence, so you can always come back to it.
All live sessions are recorded, both Musical Intelligence and Sound Journey Design, and the replays are included.
Yes. You'll work on your own sound journey and receive feedback during the live group sessions.
You'll have lifetime access to the course materials and the community.
